Creating Crinoline Flowers with Amy Fowler

This course will demonstrate a variety of basic crinoline manipulation techniques to create light weight and colorful flowers. With a variety of flat and tubular crinoline and some household tools, you will learn how to make the three basic components of a flower; petals, stamens, and leaves, as well as how to assemble them. By learning how to fold and layer crinoline, you will be able to create one-of-a-kind flowers without using any wires or stiffeners.

Supplies:

·        Ball head pins

·        Needle – Size 3 milliner’s needle or other similar long, somewhat heavy needle

·        Clear nylon thread –

·        Cotton thread any color – can use the gathering thread pulled from the crinoline

·        Sharp Scissors – big and small

·        Steam iron

·        Steamer

·        Cigarette lighter

·        Teflon fingertips or leather glove

·        Small Teflon or heat proof area

·         Crinoline:

Flat – 1-2 yards each of 16cm, 8cm, 3cm, and 1.5 cm. You will want a green piece in 1.5 and 3 cm

Tubular – 1 – 2 yards each of 16mm, 8mm, 6mm, and 4mm. You will want a piece of 4mm to be in a color appropriate for flower stamens. Also try to get a piece of green tubing in one of the order sizes.
