Dior’s Rose with Janet Linville

$76.00

Sumptuous folds of silk create this unique soft flower which is easy to scale up or down depending on your needs. Janet will share this technique similar to the one used in the 50-ties in Atelier Dior.

And what a perfect Mother’s Day gift it will make!

Supplies: T

1) Fabrics: Most students will easily be able to make a 3-4” rose with 1yard of fabric. However, this rose looks most lovely with a mix of colors and even materials so 1/4 yard each of 3-4 fabrics/ color gradations is recommended. Theoretically, each petal could be a different color…..Scraps work beautifully as long as you can find BIAS!
Recommended fabrics: light, thin crisp fabrics such as ORGANZA ( silk much preferred), TAFFETA (silk, again) , ORGANDY (cotton) – and similar fabrics. Synthetics can be used but are less refined and more ‘pouffy’.
Students might also want to look around for other bits and bobs- you can insert shine or other colors into a petal for even more effect…..

2)Thread: Sturdy thread for gathering or double or triple the strands. You don’t want the thread to break. /jeans thread and quilting thread or multiple strands would be fine.
3)Cutting surface and tools to trace the patterns
4) Scissors
5) Iron and ironing surface

VARIATIONS:
Flower Center
1) cotton ball and scrap of fabric big enough to cover it OR
2) Purchased Stamens OR
3) A Pearl Button  or round Jeweled Button with about 10-12”” of #28 or 32 tie wire
