Description: Create vintage-inspired and unique contemporary embellishments and trims using your remainder “scrap” felt pieces. You will fashion felt bows, bands, ties and laces, flowers, feathers, fronds, leaves, nuts and pods and learn to wire your materials for expert control of shape and line.

Course outcomes: Learning to work and sculpt with felt scrap pieces. Cutting and braiding techniques. Detailing with leather punches/hole punches. Hand sewing or sewing machine skills to create texture and detail on trim and ornaments. Wiring skills by hand and sewing machine for controlling trim shapes.

Supply List:

5 yards brimlock

5 yards millinery wire #20 and or #19 – Black  or White 

Quilting pins 

Aileen’s Tacky Glue 

Felt scraps/remainders or felt pieces or yardage. 

Spools basic thread colors and or to  match felt scraps

Small hand tools – utility scissors,  trim scissors or smaller scissors,  wire cutters, needle nose pliers. Cutting mat and rotary cutter 

Pinch clamps (2 inch jaw opening or  whatever your hand strength can manage. 

Metal straight edge (36 inch or  longer) / metal yard stick / flexible sewing tape measure 

Steam iron and ironing board Sewing machine or can be done by hand.
